When prompt payment is bad news

WASHINGTON, D.C. — U.S. Rep. Fred Upton says a deal between drug makers and distributors is proving a bad deal for cancer patients on Medicare and the people who treat them.

Thus, he’s joined a bipartisan team of lawmakers to take on a practice called “prompt pay discounts.”

“Our common-sense, bipartisan legislative fix corrects the Medicare reimbursement formula that currently threatens the distribution of cancer care drugs across the country,” Upton, R-St. Joseph, said in a news release.
