On behalf of the Board of Directors of the Community Oncology Alliance (COA), I would like to extend heartfelt congratulations to our colleague, Barbara McAneny, MD, FASCO, MACP, on being voted president-elect of the American Medical Association (AMA).
Having worked alongside Dr. McAneny on the board of COA and other initiatives for many years, I can say firsthand that she is a tireless advocate for our nation’s cancer patients and practices. A nationally recognized innovator, Dr. McAneny’s long line of successes includes the Community Oncology Medical Home (COME HOME) model which continues to serve as an important inspiration for oncology payment and delivery system reforms to this day.
As the first ever oncologist elected to lead the AMA, Dr. McAneny will bring valuable insight of the challenges and opportunities we have with the United States’ cancer care system to this venerable physician organization. We wish her great success in this new position and look forward to successful collaboration in the years to come.
