Get Involved – It’s Easy

CPAN is inclusive, non-cancer type specific, and welcomes all motivated volunteers.  In joining this truly collaborative effort, you will have the unique experience of advocating alongside oncologists, cancer clinic practice administrators, nurses, and your fellow cancer patients, survivors and advocates.  You will join the COA/CPAN community as we work together to influence policy that will positively affect all cancer patients. We welcome you to become a volunteer patient advocate with CPAN.  (Community Oncology Alliance Patient Advocacy Network)

What you can do:

  • Visit our website on a regular basis to keep informed on major issues affecting community oncology and COA’s primary initiatives.
  • Join our mailing list.
  • Complete our on-line registration form.
  • Write a letter to your local paper about COA/CPAN.  We can help you with this.
  • Contact your legislator.
  • Help create awareness of COA and CPAN through social media.  Have a positive experience to share, post it on Facebook, Twitter, Email.
  • Download or request CPAN marketing materials to post and distribute in your community brochures, and information flyers.

Potential opportunities include:

Educational Opportunities in New Advocacy areas:

  • Get educated on access to care issues.  Share your knowledge.  Receive current updates on patient and provider focused COA legislation priorities.

Share your story – visit our Profiles/Stories section:

Speakers Bureau:

  • Training provided. When opportunities arise in your community, we can call on you to speak out as a trained COA/CPAN media representative.

Guest Blogger:

  • Contribute to our website. Share your experience as a CPAN advocate, reaching physicians, nurses, fellow advocates and interested members of the public.  Do you have another story idea?   Please let us know.

Networking with fellow advocates:

Legislative Outreach:

  • Local, State and National opportunities.  This may include letter writing, email alerts, arranging community outreach events and meeting with Members of Congress.

Join us in Washington, DC at our Annual Lobby Day:

  • Walk the halls of Congress to Stand Up for Cancer Care. We will meet with our congressional leaders and share our collective voices as a cancer community.

Member Events:  Annual Community Oncology Conference:

  • Past conferences have included educational workshops on various cancers, policy roundtables, and timely issues such as involving patients in health care reform, Comparative Effectiveness Research and Evidence Based Medicine.
  • CPAN invites members from across the United States to join CPAN.
